WORK LIFE BALANCE

Two years ago, I embarked on a journey as an architectural designer, seeking freedom and integration of work into my lifestyle. However, the initial months were overwhelming, with work consuming my life. As Koenig’s aptly put it, "Great successes in business come with great sacrifice." But stepping away from work is crucial for establishing work-life balance.

Challenges in Architecture involve unrealistic deadlines, communication hurdles, administrative tasks, and finding balance tested my resolve.

Practical Solutions

To regain control, I incorporated:

1. Delegation and team-building.

2. Regular breaks.

3. Goal-oriented prioritization.

4. Assertive boundary-setting (learning to say NO).

5. Mindful multitasking.

6. Capping work hours at 40/week.

By implementing these strategies, I've achieved a better balance, increased productivity, and reduced stress. Entrepreneurial success doesn't require sacrificing personal life. By adopting these practices, architects and entrepreneurs can cultivate a fulfilling work-life balance.
